PostSubject: Official PS3 REPORT ~Thursday April 15~   Official PS3 REPORT ~Thursday April 15~ EmptyFri Apr 16, 2010 5:22 am

Hi everyone! I am Ceonn. I recently asked to do reviews to help our awesome admin out, so here I am! I hope you will enjoy the new PS3 REPORT! *sparkle sparkle*
I wanted to start with something fun and interesting, like this for example. I will now give you a honest review of the game Warriors Orochi Z. This game is an import only game at the moment, but even with that said, worldwide we have the two ps2 games entitled warriors orochi and warriors orochi 2. this game is that game with two more characters added to its database of more than 90 characters, so just think of this as a review of both of them. first a little something on scores. I shall start from one (the worst) to ten (the best friggen game in existence)

1: one means the crew who made this game needs to get fired and replaced. Since I cannot think of any game that deserves a one on anything, as you guess, it's rare for a game to obtain this. I am very thankful for that myself.

2: A two mean they did particularly badly in this area. It's a little better then 1, and much more common. If this is a final score, that means stay away, it's not worth it.

3: A three means it's okay, but it needs a lot of work here. Basically, it's passable, but they should improve here before giving it another try.

4: This is the best bad grade you can get. This means its meh. It doesn't stand out enough to be considered spectacular or even average, it's just there. A final score with a four means it's fun to an extent, but it's got quite a few glitches and framerate issues.

5: The true number for average. this means it's not good, it's not bad, it's just average. A final scores like this means it's playable, but either the story is lackluster or the gameplay is not polished enough to be fun for too long.

6: A little above average. it means it's interesting but it will not catch your eye for too long. Final scores like this generally mean its fun approximately but it's still more like an idea that did not work out so good.

7: This is my usual score when i review something. This means it's above average, and it'll be fun for a while but eventually it'll loose your interest.Final Scores with this rating generally mean its fun and probably has a good story, but it's not mindbreaking and ... innovative. that's the word for it.

8: This means it's a solid game. This is my second most given review. (as you might of guessed, I like a lot of different games, and unless it stands out as particularly bad, it's not gonna go too far below 7) eight Means it's got a solid story, solid gameplay, good music, and polished graphics. This is like getting a ceonn seal of approval.

9: This means the game in question is almost perfect, and has barely any noticeable flaws. Essentially, a fun and innovative experience. A game that gets this should be one that makes the staff behind it to feel proud to make such a masterpiece

10: Not even Tales of vesperia can earn this. This is absolute perfection. Not even one flaw exists. I find it horribly mindbending when someone posts a ten out of ten review because no game can earn this. Perfection is not possible, no game is so fun that you will never stop playing it. Thus I will never ever give out a 10, unless the game in question has without a doubt earned perfection.

Let's get started!

Story 7/10

This game is a crossover of the two series entitled Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors made by Koei. Thus its characters are merged from both of these games, with a few extras original to the Orochi series. The story begins with the Serpent King Orochi merging both the Three Kingdoms Era, and the Warring States Era of China and Japan respectively. this creates a new area which can be thought of as Japan and China combined. (unfortunately, a would map has not been released, so no-one can be sure) The Serpent King does this due to just being freed from a group not mentioned at the beginning of the story. Orochi then precedes to attack and destroy every army existing currently.

Crushed and broken, most of the soldiers are killed, some scattered and were forced to flee, and some people were captured by Orochi himself and either forced to fight for him or caged up to be killed or used later for the Serpent Kings goals. At the beginning the player may choose to follow the story from Wu, Shu, Wei, or the Samurai's perspectives. Each of these stories are unique, but end in one goal, killing Orochi. This part of the review covers the warriors orochi one section of the story. If you choose to follow Wu's story, you begin controlling a young leader known as the "Little Conqueror" or Sun Ce. His father is captured by Orochi, and Sun ce is forced to fight for him.

For Shu you control Zhao Yun, who escapes after being captured during the first fight with orochi, with the help of other officers of course. Wei gives you initial control of Cao Pi, whose father Cao Cao is dead. Cao Pi chooses to continue fighting for Orochi although Orochi was the reason for his death. And the Samurai Warriors are the only ones that start initially as a resistance, whos goal is to obtain more forces to combat Orochi's control of the land. All these stories end in Orochi's death, but does that mark the end of the story? Or is it just the beginning...

Warriors Orochi two

At the start of this story, Orochi has died, and the main characters in each of the stories change. Also, the story for Shu in the first fame is listed as complete canon, allowing the story to expand from that ending. In the end, Orochi's stratagist, Da Ji escaped in the end to cause more chaos, but what she is doing is never really clear until now. All the stories in the second game follow a basic path.

Find Da Ji------>Capture Himiko------>Himiko escapes------>Orochi is revived------>fight orochi

It's not much of a change from the 1st games story, beside the fact that the story is more in depth and the original characters get more of a background. The only storyline that doesn't follow this path is Wu. In Wu's storyline, your focus is on the warlord Kiyomori Taira and Lu Bu. Kiyomori is the one who has been trying to revive Orochi in all stories, but his role is more pronounced in Wu's story. Here you find Kiyomori's rival in the story, Yoshitsune Minamoto. He has been blindly chasing after Kiyomori for years, and now LuBu is in the way so wu volunteers to help. In the end, with the help of the mystics who imprisoned orochi in the first place, you kill him and create peace again, but the world remains the same.

Gameplay 9/10

Warriors Orochi one

In warriors orochi 1, you can play as up to 79 characters in battle. Plus, you can play as three per battle, meaning you get to create a team of up to three warriors. The battle system in this game is basically an army battle. You have a force of your own and take up a small section of the battlefield. As you fight random numbers are generated causing the war to happen all around you. As you fight, your officers and troops are fighting all over the field, and events are happening inching them and their enemies closer to death. think of yourself as the ace in the hole for these guys. You have the power to turn the battle, for only the player can win the battle for your characters. Your job is to protect your leader and officers while destroying the enemy, inching your way to the final area, where you challenge the commander in that stage.

Outside battle, you upgrade your characters weapons. They're really is not anything to do for yourself outside battle, so other modes are something this game lacks.

Warriors Orochi one (Mitsuhide Akechi, Xing Cai, Hanzo Hattori)

Warriors Orochi two

In orochi two this is expanded on. six new characters are added and two are returned from Dynasty Warriors 3. in warriors orochi 1, when you added elements to your weapon, every time you did a character attack, they would take affect. Since this overpowered your character, it was fixed in Orochi 2. Now only certain charge attacks for each characters activate these elements. Plus, in 1 the difficulty was near impossible, but 2 fixes this and makes the game more manageable.

The biggest changes made were the inclusion of new modes to play. Now you can fight against your friends in vs. mode. You can also choose to fight against the computer in survival mode. Finally, you can play stages that have nothing to do with the Orochi storyline with Dream Mode. In this mode everything’s just “what ifs”.

Finally, you can now play as orochi from the start in the Orochi storyline. This shows the events leading up to warriors orochi 1 and what happens just before Zhao Yun was freed.

Warriors Orochi 2 Gameplay (Orochi, Da Ji, Dong Zhou)

Warriors Orochi Z

Warriors Orochi Z has several improvements on the game itself. It is basically a combination of the 2, with new features scattered around. Improvements include the ability o choose a separate party when playing co-op. Before, player two was forced to have the same party as player 1, and could not choose which characters he/she actually wanted. In dream mode, your characters used to be locked into the stage, now after completing a dream mode stage once, you can change the characters in the stage.

Finally, the specific fights you could do against the player in vs mode that survival lacked are now available in the battle against com option in vs mode. Finally, each character obtained a fourth costume, giving the character costumes available in the games they had appeared in before which were not available until now. Also, the new characters included in warriors orochi two but not one are now able to fight in the warriors orochi one stages, adding for more replayability.

Finally, enemy mobs were increased from about five enemies per mob, to about 14-15 enemies per mob.

Warriors Orochi Z gameplay (Lu Bu, Noh, Mitsuhide Akechi)

Music 7.5/10
The music was slightly mediocre. Most of it was tracks from dynasty warriors five and samurai warriors two remixed. The only original track was added in for warriors orochi z, playing whenever you would encounter Orochi himself. The music was mostly techno, so fans of techno should be reasonably pleased by the remixed songs.

What really drags this down though is the voice acting. there were some fitting voices, but in the end, I can name 20 or 30 characters that make me want to pull out my hair.
Graphics 7/10
In warriors orochi z, the graphics are improved on. It way look the same, but it’s not. Plus the models were improved. Anything that hangs free on a character model actually flows air the air as if it was not part of the character. Slowdown was reduced considerably, and cases of random Chinese people randomly disappearing on the battlefield due to the game not being able to handle too many ais, does not occur often. Thus a major improvement has been made.

Replayability 6/10
You have over 90 characters to max out and obtain the best weapons for. Plus you must upgrade the weapons. Unfortunately, this is a tedious process, and after you play most of the stages you will end up getting sick of it. Because of that, It’s harder to give a better score on this :/

!Final Score!

7.3/10
It's a rather fun game, but eventually, it'll get old. Thus, I deem this game average. It'll keep you interested for a long time, but when it gets boring, there's a good chance you won't pick it up again. Even so, I hope that you try Z out, or if you can't get your hands on Z, then try to find warriors orochi 1 and 2 for either ps2 or xbox 360. Till then!

now for everyones favorite part!

What games are coming out near you? Well I think now is the perfect time to find out.
